Autumn on Phu Quoc Island 2025
How did September and October go, and what to expect from the weather on the island at the end of November?

In short, September and October were wet, with tropical downpours, strong winds, and waves. November usually marks the transition to the dry season. But in 2025, the first half of November was rocked by a regional typhoon. Even though Phu Quoc Island remained on the periphery and Typhoon Kalmaegi passed by, the island's residents experienced sharp weather changes with winds and showers, even though heavy rains are not typical for November.
September
A typical “tail end” of the rainy season, when it is hot during the day, with frequent afternoon showers and thunderstorms, and a cloudy sea with waves.
October
Precipitation in October was less frequent, but intense storm periods persisted. Winds and waves intensified.
November
November is the month when Fukuoka transitions to the dry season. Usually, at the beginning of the month, there are more sunny spells and shorter showers. However, this year, the powerful typhoon Kalmaegi hit central Vietnam and Phu Quoc was caught in its tail. How did this affect the island? The weather was more unstable due to regional storms, with variable cloudiness, winds, and sudden showers. In general, this is a typical picture for the height of the rainy season. In other words, we can say that the typhoon prolonged the wet season in Phu Quoc.
Forecast for the end of November
With the strengthening of the northeast monsoon, we expect more sunshine and fewer prolonged downpours, but there will still be short rains, possibly with thunderstorms. Moderate waves are forecast at sea, with brief deterioration during thunderstorms. Therefore, sea tours and diving in November will not be as pleasant as in winter. But in general, the weather is already good for a vacation in the tropics. In my opinion, it is even more interesting for its diversity than in the dry season.
Enjoy your vacation on Phu Quoc Island, Vietnam.
