The word babymoon is still new to some travellers, although the idea behind it is very simple. It is a last holiday together before the baby arrives and life changes from two people to three.
For couples travelling to Phu Quoc, a babymoon can also be a good time for photographs. Not a formal maternity session with complicated styling, but a relaxed part of the holiday together.
This babymoon photoshoot in Phu Quoc took place at Andochine Resort on Long Beach. We had two hours, two outfits and plenty of time to move from the villa through the resort and finish the session beside the sea.
We started at the villa
The first series was photographed inside the villa.
The look was simple and relaxed, with jeans and denim. We made maternity portraits as well as photographs of the couple together, keeping this part of the session quiet and natural.
Starting at the villa was comfortable too. There was no need to walk anywhere at the beginning, and once we finished the first series, the clients could change clothes before we went outside.
I like this balance for a maternity photoshoot in Phu Quoc. Pregnancy is an important part of the photographs, but the entire gallery does not have to look like a traditional maternity session.
It can still feel like photographs from a holiday together.

Then we went for a walk
After the outfit change, we left the villa and slowly walked through Andochine Resort toward Long Beach.
The resort is right on the first line, with villas, landscaped tropical grounds and direct access to the beach. This means we can create several very different series without getting into a car or travelling between locations. We stopped in the gardens first and then continued to the colourful pier. The pier gave us a completely different setting, so we stayed there long enough to make a separate series rather than taking just one or two photographs and moving on. From there we continued toward the beach bar. Its large arch became another background along the same walking route. Within a relatively small area we had already moved from the villa to greenery, the pier and architecture near the beach.
That variety is one of the reasons Andochine works particularly well for a two-hour photoshoot.

July on Long Beach
The last part of our session was beside the sea. Andochine Resort opens directly onto Long Beach, so after walking through the property we simply continued onto the sand. This photoshoot was in July, during the low season in Phu Quoc. The western coast looks different at this time of year. During the dry season the sea here is often very calm. In summer, wind and waves are much more common. For photographs, that change can be interesting. The wind moves the clothes and hair, while the waves give the sea much more texture. Instead of a completely still background, there is movement throughout the frame.
We started with photographs of the couple walking along the wide sandy beach. Later, we moved closer to the water for a quieter series sitting together beside the sea. The beach photographs ended up feeling very different from the relaxed denim portraits we had made at the villa earlier.
All of them still belonged to the same afternoon.

A two-hour babymoon photoshoot without rushing
This babymoon photoshoot in Phu Quoc was scheduled from 4:00 to 6:00 pm. By late afternoon, the heat begins to ease, and the light gradually becomes softer and warmer as the evening approaches.
For a pregnant client, having two hours also means there is no need to hurry. We had time to photograph inside the villa, change outfits, walk through the resort, stop at the pier and beach bar, and finish the session on Long Beach.
The package included 60 fully retouched photographs, with a varied gallery from the relaxed denim series at the villa to the final photographs beside the sea. Two hours also makes an outfit change much easier, because it becomes a natural part of the session rather than something that has to be squeezed into a tight schedule.

If you are coming to Phu Quoc for a babymoon, the photoshoot can be planned around your resort, the beach and the pace that feels comfortable for you. A two-hour session gives enough time for an outfit change and several different settings without rushing.
